What is AIMS digital data?AIMS digital data is geographic data stored electronically in formats supported by industry standards. The data is distributed in a format recognizable by most GIS and engineering desktop software products. View the data sample to see how the various formats of the data and what the data looks like when viewed using the appropriate software.
Is there a charge for AIMS digital data?Yes, the pricing schedule for AIMS data can be found on the AIMS data prices webpage.
Is any digital data available for free?Yes, the AIMS free data webpage lists the datasets that can be downloaded for free.
What format and projection is the data in? Data can be delivered in the following formats: dwg, dwf, dgn or shapefile. The data is projected in Stateplane, Kansas North, NAD83 coordinate system.
What is the accuracy of the data?The data meets various accuracy standards depending on the dataset. Planimetrics meet ASPRS Class II accurracy requirements for 1:100 scale mapping for example while the property information has a horizontal accuracy of +/- 20'. Is metadata available for the digital data?FGDC compliant metadata for each of the layers is available on the AIMS metadata webpage.
How do I know if the data I'm getting is what I need?All the data that can be requested digitally is viewable on our internet mapping site. We encourage you to browse the data on our internet mapping site to confirm that the data your are requesting meets your needs before you purchase it.
How do I know how much the data is going to cost me? Once the data is selected, you will be forwarded to a page displaying data price specific to your order.
Why can't I login to the DDR application?Logins are established for data licensees at the request of the licensee. To request access for a new user, please contact the Mapper of the Day at or call 913.715.1600. As a security precaution, licensees should also request that unneeded user accounts be disabled. It is the licensees responsibility to request these actions.
How do I pay for the data being requested?Once the data has been selected, you will be redirected to the AIMS secure payment gateway for completing your request. On the payment gateway, you can use your credit card to pay for the data. AIMS accepts VISA, Mastercard, Discover credit cards. AIMS does not invoice or accept cash or checks for online data requests.
I did not receive the data I ordered. What can I do? If you ordered and paid for digital data but did not receive an email with a link to download the data, please contact the Mapper of the Day at or call 913.715.1600. Our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will be happy to assist you in receiving your order.
Is my credit card information secure when ordering AIMS data? To ensure the security of your information, Johnson County AIMS payment provider, Alacriti, Inc, uses industry standard 256-bit SSL certificate encryption to securely transmit your payment and identity information. The county does not store your credit card information.
