Agency of the Month Highlight – August 2022

Johnson County Aging & Human Services (AHS) CHAMPSS program: Choosing healthy appetizing meal plan solutions for seniors offered through the Nutrition Program/Area Agency on Aging (AAA), is pleased to offer, for a suggested $4.00 per meal donation, a dining opportunity for adults 60 years or older, their spouse and disable children living at home. Participants of the program can enjoy a breakfast, lunch, or dinner 7 days a week at participating Hy-Vee stores and IHOP restaurants.  A typical meal consists of an entrée, vegetable, and fruit, plus bread and milk. Please visit the CHAMPSS website or call 913-715-8894 to enroll.

Join the heart of AHS by becoming a volunteer. AHS offers four different programs where volunteers can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable residents: Home Delivered Meals, Catch-a-Ride Volunteer Transportation, Food Pantry and Office Administration.  AHS volunteers are all ages. Children are welcome to accompany parents or grandparents delivering meals or providing transportation. Currently AHS does not offer one-time volunteer experiences or large group volunteer days, nor award community service hours for school or court. Click Here for information on volunteer orientations.  For more information contact Anna Collins, Volunteer Services Coordinator by phone at (913) 715-8859, Kansas Relay Operator at (800) 766-3777 or via email.
