Agency of the Month Highlight – September 2024

District Attorney Consumer Protection Unit The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office has developed the Consumer Protection Unit to educate consumers and to address complaints by consumers against area merchants. Through strong, yet fair, enforcement of the Kansas Consumer Protections Act, this unit investigates, identifies, and aggressively prosecutes deceptive and unconscionable acts committed by area merchants against consumers. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) A U.S. government agency dedicated to helping consumers by providing educational materials and accepting complaints. It supervises banks, lenders, and large non-bank entities, such as credit reporting agencies and debt collection companies. The Bureau also works to make credit card, mortgage, and other loan disclosures clearer, so consumers can understand their rights and responsibilities. a U.S. government agency dedicated to making sure you are treated fairly by banks, lenders and other financial institutions. These trainings are free and open for anyone to attend.
